Market week 15

IMG 7567

The sky was black and and you could almost feel the static electricity in the air from the ominous thunderclouds. Even though it was still warm, the promise of rain indicated that fall is here. As I braved the threatening elements (more snarl than bite) and headed to the market,  I received another indicator that the season has in fact changed. Oranges and nuts! I must confess that I did not purchase any oranges for they looked a little too green (and therefore too tart), but I did have the opportunity to partake of some fresh chestnuts that a generous local friend decided to share. This week I officially said goodbye to warm weather and the accompanying fruits and vegetables but the trade off is comfort food. Meat and hearty dishes slowly cooked to mouthwatering perfection. So although I have had to close my patio door for the season (something I have not done since April), the trade off is well worth it.

This week’s damage was 25 Euros:

  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Arugula
  • Onions
  • Potatoes
  • Lemons
  • Grapes
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Parsley
  • Cilantro
  • Eggplants
  • Roses for my wife

  1. Happy fall. Good call on the roses. We are enjoying our soggy season as much as can be expected. Not like the East coast. Wow, eh? We are planning a greek meal with friends. Wish you were here, however we will be drawing inspiration from our trip and your lovely blogs. Love to all :)
